Got Courage?

I love Oprah’s breathing space on her OWN network. In this particular episode she recited words from President Roosevelt, and I was immediately moved. This is one of my favorite personal pieces. His words instantly reminds you to have courage, and that the nay sayers are never important.

Very often I read his words to the students in my program, the clients I serve, and to just regular people who are holding onto the negative opinions of others. Often times we get caught up in the things others say, when in all reality, there is no weight to those things said. No one defines you, except you.

When things get rough, and people are pointing fingers, remember the words of President Theodore Roosevelt..

“There is no effort without error and shortcomings..”

Got Courage?

  1. Ms. Lee. I dig it. I’m always happy to get ur blogs. Got courage? Great question. Often times my courage waivers. I’m working on strengthening it. But admittedly, those “naysayers” can be quite influential–despite how strong I think I am. You know?

    1. Very true Dr. Bryant, however I’ve come to identify those individuals with a severe case of a “personal problem.” As people are entitled their own opinions, it’s just that, their own. We are not responsible for other peoples assumptions, opinions, nor conclusions. An although sometimes it’s hard to shake, the more you practice ignoring them, the quicker it’ll be to bounce back. That’s why I love courage. The coming back part is the reward!

An thank you! You’ve given me another thing to be thankful about this morning! Happy Tuesday Dr. Bryant! 🙂
