In a world of so much abundance, how do we manage to take the most essential and necessary things for granted? After being approached nearly 4 years ago by the My Water Project organization, I am ready to follow through with this initiative! Did you know nearly 1 billion people don’t have safe water to drink? Together, we can change that. Let’s fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Life has so many demanding moments and responsibilities, but I never want to forget my role on this planet which is to give back. The picture you see above is a picture that I have posted in my office. One, is so I do not forget the project I have started with My Water Project organization, and two, so I remember how grateful I am. Because of that, I have the greater responsibility to help others.
Quick Story: I remember watching David Blaine’s Real or Fake Tv show on ABC. Towards the end, there is a segment about his visit to Liberia, Africa to find the man who could spout water. His name is Winston Carter. He wanted to find him because he was obsessed with Hazi Ali’s water spout act that he desperately wanted to learn. For Winston, because clean water was so scarce as a kid, he learned to control the muscles around his stomach, and developed the skill “spouting”. That skill allowed him to store clean water to access at any point, for any reason.
The thought about any young child, or person to have to go to such extreme measures for something that I have readily available is heart wrenching. I had to revisit my passion for beginning this project in 2010 and follow through. I have had my donation page up for about 3 weeks now, and because of trying to plan properly advertising it and other things, I have not managed to create traffic to the fundraising page. Therefore using my blog, I am petitioning your help to meet my goal of $5,000 to build a well in a Sub-Saharan African community. I have plans to hopefully travel to Africa once my goal is met as the well is in the process of being built. The page is not to it’s perfection, but the opportunity to give is right at your fingertips. If this issue has touched your heart in any way, I ask that you please donate. Not on my behalf, but on the behalf of the children, families, and people who do not have accessible clean water as we are so fortunate to have.
It’s easy to donate. All you have to do is click the link below, select the amount you will like to donate, and you’re all finished! 🙂
