I wrote this the other day on Facebook and I thought I’d share with my readers! 🙂
I was watching The Voice and I listened to Pharrell and Gwen Stefani encourage an artist who was going home, that the road is not over. Gwen said, “Listen, do you know how long it took me playing with my band before the radio played any of our songs? 9 years, 9.” I was instantly reminded of the numerous successors who explained how it too them years to get to the point of recognition, and it led me to write this.
“It takes some people 6, 9, or 10 plus years to get themselves recognized in their specific trade or profession. For people to consider them as something valuable.
A-lot of people you watch and admire today, it took them YEARS upon years until they landed their 1st gig.
You all are just watching the process now. Day and night the foundation is being laid and repaved. Not for me, but for that day the sunrises and EVERYONE wakes up to my sunlight.
It’s always been here, nothing has changed.
This is the work you have to put in, because the moment will be ready. The question is, will you?
(I only open up my book to take you on the journey.)
Day by day another person is waking up to the sunrise, my sunrise.”
