How to deal with Criticism, Ignorance, & Disrespect

Criticism, ignorance, and disrespectful comments, can do two things to you. Either it’ll break you, or it’ll flatter you.

There’s TWO sides to everything, even people. The people you call friends, family, and/or strangers. They all criticize or disrespect you, saying ignorant things they have no business saying.

Take it personally, or be honored that you have something for them to criticize.

In true Sarah Lee fashion, I remind myself and others that I do not bend or break easily. They’ll be lucky if I bend in that matter. Is it because I have no feelings? Absolutely not. I’m human, I promise.

However, the moment you learn that other people’s opinions are personal and it has nothing to do with you, flattery is guaranteed! It just so happens that you may threaten others, or your presence may be a reminder of the things they wished they would’ve done. Think about it.

I will never confuse this notion in making you believe that it’s easy to learn, because it’s not. It takes practice. But, once you’ve vowed to stand in your own corner, the opinions of others will lay on the back burner in your honor.

Smile in the face of criticism, ignorance and disrespect. It has nothing to do with you, and EVERYTHING to do with them.

Welcome! My name is Sarah Lee and I'm a Business Strategist and social entrepreneur who loves the outdoors, a good book, and scary movies year round! Throughout this quirky, rich, and mysterious life of mine, I genuinely love to 'share' my experiences as a learning tool. I thought, what better way to track my level of growth than by sharing my experiences and the lessons learned thereof, than in my blog? A wise woman once said, "You are your own masterpiece, therefore, instead of mastering it, master you."
