The One You Can’t Live Without

This morning after having some “me” time (the time to visualize and be thankful), I did my social media/email check. Instagram, Twitter, Yahoo…then Facebook coming up last. I was scrolling down my TL and I seen someone repost a picture of a very inspirational couple, Steve and Marjorie Harvey. The caption to the photo said:

“Marriage is not about who you can see your life with, it’s about who you can’t see your life without.”

The moment I read that I was reminded of an episode of Family Matters when Laura had to choose between Steve Urkel and Stephan Urkelle. We all know who she chose, Steve Urkel.

Back then, I couldn’t understand why Laura chose Steve. It was just confusing. Stephan had it all! He was handsome, financially stable, well dressed, well-mannered, and loved by the family. Who doesn’t want that?

It was until I re-watched some episodes leading up to the finale, to finally get it. Steve desides to step aside to make her choice easier, but Laura wouldn’t let him leave. Laura says, “…because I couldn’t imagine my life without you.”

BAM! It hits me. What would Laura’s life be like if Steve never existed? NOTHING!

Watch below; at 1:29 she says it.

Man, can we have it wrong sometimes or what? I’m just thankful that I understood how to truly recognize LOVE when I see it, early on.

Life long love, is not necessarily what fits by look, style, or ambition. It’s determined upon the one person who has shaped your life in a way, that without that person, YOU (who you are today) would not exist. Could you erase that person from your life and you still be happy?

I find HISTORY to be an extremely romantic. How valuable and sacred is it to say, we we’re once, this…and we became, that. 🙂

Find the one you cannot imagine your life without.

  1. This is so true, when you go beyond the superficial and the things that change and surely as the seasons, the character, the loyalty and the commitment of the person who truly loves you is what will stand. Such a great reminder to us all. Even further I will add that “We become the one that the other cannot live without.”

    1. Aww, Kim! I love that!

“We become the one that the other cannot live without.”

By the way, I LOVE your blog. You’re such an inspiring person! All the love and blessings to you! 🙂 ❤

  2. So true! Isn’t it funny how you can go back and watch a tv show you’ve seen a bunch of times and just one day it clicks? But I love that last line you wrote, “find the one you cannot imagine your life without.”
