“Why travel? Is it business or personal?”
Earlier today, somebody asked me those two questions, when a conversation turned into an impromptu personal development consultation.
I hear people say all the time say, “I want to start traveling.”
These days it goes in one ear and out the other, because I know that the money they’re spending elsewhere, wouldn’t be compromised for a plane ticket. That’s just me being honest.
Either it seems to risky to them, or they think you must have boo-ku money in order to travel.
Wrong. WRONG. Wrong!
Before I hit you with a, “Let me show you how to make extra money to travel” like most, I’m going to give you something BETTER!
I’m going to share with you, WHY I TRAVEL.
Every time I go to a new city, country, state, a nearby town, it’s like meeting a stranger you’re wanting to GET TO KNOW.
To me, each destination has a distinct personality–an essence per se. One that I’m intrigued to get to know.
Travel, whether domestic or internationally, reminds me that it’s not only ME living on this planet. That there’s other views, perspectives, cultures, practices and the best part, FOOD etc, out there other than my own.
It makes me feel like an ignorant child, eager to listen, learn, and explore.#childlike #wonder
I guess that’s why they call it, WANDERLUST!
It’s uncertain, nerve wrecking, exciting, and exhilarating…all at the same time. That feeling you get at the top of the rollercoaster, right before you drop! #adrenaline
That’s why I TRAVEL.
So I don’t get caught up within myself, my environment, views, perspectives, judgements or criticism.
It refreshes every aspect of my life!
Allowing me to accept and choose, my thoughts and opinions wisely. It also allows me to reason with logic and intelligence.
Most of all, it provides me with the type of wisdom and knowledge NO HISTORY or GEOGRAPHY book can give me.
Travel is my teacher.
Now to that other question, “Is it business or personal?” I’ll answer that sweet and short, and say, everything in my life business has been made personal. It’s called passion and a paycheck, baby!
Once you find out WHY YOU WANT TO TRAVEL, the motivation to find alternate resources to do so, or to compromise some extra spending money, will be automatic!
For example, I began making my own dresses, so I can put the extra bucks to traveling. Plus, I’d rather my name on the fabric that hugs and hangs off my body, than someone else’s.
